PROFILE: The Wilma S. and Laurence A. Tisch Foundation was established in 2011. It bears the name of billionaire Wilma Tisch and her late husband Laurence Tisch, co-founder of Loews Corporation.  Wilma, and her four sons Andrew, James, Thomas, and Daniel, currently oversee the foundation. The foundation does not maintain a website, which restricts further public information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. Tax filings suggest that the Wilma S. and Laurence A. Tisch Foundation primarily funds education, youth, Jewish causes, the arts, and health.

Wilma Tisch supports her alma mater Skidmore College. Tisch was first woman elected president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, and has also been active with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. She is also a trustee emerita of WNYC Radio, which the family supports via the foundation. 

Grants range from $10,000 to around $6.4 million. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away nearly $7 million. Past grantees have included Jewish Communal Fund, UJA Federation of New York, Tisch MS Research Center of New York, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, Lincoln Center, and New York Public Radio.

The Wilma S. and Laurence A. Tisch Foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
