PROFILE: Established in 2001, the William A. Haseltine Foundation was founded by William Haseltine, chair and CEO of Haseltine Associates. In 1992 he founded Human Genome Sciences and served as its chair and CEO until 2004. He also founded The Journal of AIDS Research and Retrovirology and The Journal of Regenerative Medicine. While the foundation does not currently maintain a website, it has some web presence that describes a few of its priority areas. The William A. Haseltine Foundation for Medical Sciences and the Arts supports access to high-quality health care for the poor and middle class in developing countries and that also fosters a dialogue between sciences and the arts.

William Hasteline is a founder and served as chair of the scientific advisory board of the American Foundation for AIDS Research, AmFAR. He is also a founder, chairman, and president of ACCESS Health International, an operating foundation devoted to improving access to high quality health worldwide, both in low and high income countries. 

Grants range from $100 to around $850,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away approximately $1 million. Past grantees include Aid for AIDS, Cancer Research Institute, El Museo del Barrio, Young Concert Artists, and The Met.

The William A. Hasteline keeps a low-profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
