ScreenCraft Film Production Fund
OVERVIEW: ScreenCraft awards production grants for short films and online film series.
IP TAKE: Only a few of these grants are available each year. Consequently, with ScreenCraft's open submission process, filmmakers should expect a decent amount of competition.
PROFILE: The L.A.-based media company ScreenCraft seeks to help “screenwriters and filmmakers succeed through competitions, events and educational content.” It partners with Bondit, a film and media fund based in Beverly Hills, to offer modest production grants to a handful of filmmakers each year. ScreenCraft only awards two to four grants annually to “talented filmmakers for short film and online series that display originality, vision and exceptional potential.”
Grants amounts vary from $5,000 to $30,000 and include creative development and production guidance from the ScreenCraft, Bondit, and Buffalo 8 Productions teams. Applicants must pay a $35 entry fee per project and there is no limit to the number of project submissions from a single applicant. Filmmakers under 18 are eligible for a ScreenCraft grant as long as they have permission from a parent or guardian. International applicants are also eligible, but all materials must be submitted in English.
The spring funding cycle opens on January 1 with an early deadline of February 1 and a final deadline of June 30. The fall funding cycle opens July 1 with an early deadline of August 1 and a final deadline of December 30.
