Ketterer supports her alma maters and other educational causes, as well as causes for low-income youth. Other interests include policy and the arts. Los Angeles is an important region of giving.

BACKGROUND: Sarah Hotchkis Ketterer received her B.A. in economics and political science from Stanford University and her MBA from the Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College. Ketterer was a portfolio manager at Hotchkis and Wiley, where she founded the international equity product and worked for the Hotchkis and Wiley division of Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. In 2001, she co-founded Causeway Capital Management in Los Angeles, specializing in managing global, international, emerging market and absolute return equities.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Ketterer supports her alma maters Stanford and Dartmouth. She is also a Stanford parent. Other grantees include Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, Village School in Pacific Palisades, PS Arts, and Girls Who Invest, where Ketterer is a trustee. Ketterer's ex-husband Robert was a trustee of Village School. Some of Ketterer's other education giving centers around low-income youth: her foundation has supported Alliance College-Ready Public Schools and CollegeSpring.

POLICY: Ketterer appears to have an interest in organizations that promote economic freedom and has supported Americans for Prosperity, which "exists to recruit, educate, and mobilize citizens in support of the policies and goals of a free society at the local, state and federal level." Other grantees include Generation Opportunity and Institute for Humane Studies.

ARTS & CULTURE: Grantees include Library Foundation of Los Angeles, Broad Stage, and LA Philharmonic, where Ketterer sits on the board.

OTHER: Ketterer is a director of LA World Affairs Council, a public affairs forum for global issues, which she supports. Other grantees include Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church, where Robert was an elder and trustee.

LOOKING FORWARD: Founded in 2013, the Sarah Ketterer Family Foundation is still rather new and Ketterer herself is still very much engaged in business. Expect her to stick with her select interests for now. Perhaps her grantmaking will deepen in the coming years.
