Pretty Powerful Fund

Pretty Powerful Fund

OVERVIEW: The Pretty Powerful Fund supports organizations that fight for gender equity, women’s rights, and economic opportunity in the United States.

IP TAKE: This modest corporate funder only awards a handful of grants per year, but it may still be a good resource for groups fighting for women-related issues. At this early time in it’s development, the fund is still not accessible, but check back as this may change. There is also no clear way of getting in touch with their staff, which further restricts access.

PROFILE: The Pretty Powerful Fund, launched in 2019, is the philanthropic arm of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. This corporate foundation follows on the heels of 2013’s successful Pretty Powerful Campaign, which donated sales of Pretty Powerful Pot Rouge to Dress for Success London. The foundation’s goal is to “support the creation of new possibilities for women and girls around the world.”

As the Pretty Powerful Fund is newly founded, it may not have fully established its grantmaking priorities and strategies yet; however, early grantmaking indicates a strong interest in women and girl’s education. The Pretty Powerful Fund launched its grantmaking activities with a total of $400,00 in grants to Girls for Gender Equity, Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights, Third Wave Fund, and UCLA’s Stuart House. Since 2020, the Pretty Powerful Fund has partnered with She’s the First to support grassroots work focused on women and girls at the local level.

The Pretty Powerful Fund is not currently accepting unsolicited proposals, but grantseekers should keep an eye on this new funder for future developments.
