PROFILE: Established in 1953, the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) is a community foundation based in Pasadena, California. Philanthropists Louis A. and Marion Webb originally created the foundation as a community trust. Louis Webb was an engineer, investor and real estate developer. The foundation changed its name in 2005 after reorganizing from a trust to a corporation and a merger that brought 150 donor-advised funds. The foundation aims to "address current needs unmet and future needs unforeseen in Pasadena.” PCF funds local efforts for capital needs, K-12 education, children’s health, the elderly, the blind and visually impaired and disaster relief.

The Pasadena Community Foundation awards grants to local nonprofits on a competitive basis in several different program areas. PCF awards capital grants for tangible and enduring capital needs with a useful life of at least three to five years. It has traditionally awarded education grants for K-12 pilot programs and the expansion of existing programs. The Pasadena Child Health Foundation at PCF focuses on early childhood development, strengthening families and healthy weight for children. Grants for the elderly go towards food security, ancillary medical services, caregiver support, transportation services and maintaining independence. PCF’s Vista Nova grant program assists local people who are blind or visually impaired. Meanwhile, PCF offers other foundation grant programs by invitation only.

Grants range between about $2,000 and $25,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving on the current grantees page of the fudner’s website. Grantmaking focuses on the greater Pasadena area of Southern California. Past local grantees include San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, Union Station Homeless Services and Armory Center for the Arts.

This foundation accepts unsolicited grant applications from nonprofits for several competitive programs throughout the year. Each program has its own unique set of guidelines and deadlines. Direct general questions to the staff at pcfstaff@pasadenacf.org or 626-796-2097.
