PROFILE: Based in Seattle, Oppenheimer Cine Rental LLC is a company that rents and services film and digital cinema cameras, cinema lenses, and related equipment since 1979. Its grantmaking program seeks to “encourage and support […] new filmmakers in producing their first serious film project.”

Oppenheimer New Filmmaker Grant Program supports new and independent filmmakers by providing access to the Arriflex 16SR2 camera package (see the grants page for a complete list of equipment included in the package). The program is open to senior and graduate thesis students and independent filmmakers for a limited duration, generally one to two weeks. Applicants looking to film commercials, industrials, PSA’s, music videos, or pornography are ineligible, as are feature length film projects.

To apply, applicants must include a one-page cover letter, a film synopsis, a copy of the script, an explanation of the budget, filmmaker bios, a copy of the production schedule, samples of relevant work, and proof of student status (if applicable). Applicants are required to supply their own equipment insurance.
