SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: Anu sits on the board of directors and Naveen sits on the board of trustees of XPrize Foundation. Naveen and family are particularly interested in finding entrepreneurial solutions to address the global challenges in health, education, poverty, agriculture, and clean water. The couple launched a $1 million Anu & Naveen Jain Women’s Safety XPRIZE to incentivize innovators to design a technology-based solution that sets a new safety standard for women.

WOMEN & GLOBAL: Anu is a member of Women Moving Millions, a global philanthropic community committed to large-scale investments in women and girls, which the family supports via their foundation. Other grantees have included Pratham USA, Girl Up, supporting UN programs that deal with the “health, safety, education, and leadership of girls in developing countries.”

The Jains also have an interest in their Indian community. They’ve supported places like International Digamber Jain Organization, “a USA based non-profit organization, our mission is to create and bring together the community of Digamber Jains in USA and ultimately from the whole world” ; Vedic Cultural Center; and India Association of Western Washington.

HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES: Grantees have included Overlake Hospital Foundation, United Way, Plymouth Housing Group, and Sophia Way, which deals with homelessness in women. Much of this grantmaking appears centered around the Seattle area.

OTHER: The Jains have supported Tateuchi Preview Center in their Washington community.

LOOKING FORWARD: Expect the Jain couple’s philanthropy to continue to track with established interest areas. Perhaps giving through their foundation will ramp up down the line.
