OVERVIEW: Luigi Caiola and his husband Sean McGill move their philanthropy through the recently-minted McGill Caiola Charitable Foundation. The couple focus much of their giving on the arts. 

BACKGROUND: Luigi C. Caiola graduated with a BBA in finance from Iona College, where he also received his MBA. He is the managing member and CEO of B and L Management LLC, a real estate development company, that focuses on multi-family residential projects which was founded by his father, the late Benny Caiola in 1974. Caiola is a five-time Tony Award winning producer, and with his sister Rose, steers Caiola Productions.

ISSUES:

ARTS & CULTURE: The couple have supported Bay Street Theater, a not-for-profit 299-seat professional regional theater situated on Long Wharf, in Sag Harbor, New York. Caiola serves on the board of directors of the New York City Center and The Bay Street Theater, as well as the Cultural Center. Past arts and culture grantees include Classic Stage Company and Drama League, an American theatrical association based in New York City. 

OTHER: The family has also supported The Calvary Fund, which helps fund Calvary Hospital in the Bronx; and Friends Seminary. 

LOOKING FORWARD: The foundation’s giving has thus far been modest, but may increase in upcoming years. It may also further invest in the arts, particularly the performing arts.
