PROFILE: Founded in 1999, the Joseph and Marie Field Foundation was established by Entercom Communications founder Joseph Field and his wife Marie. Field has served on the boards of the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, Settlement Music School, and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. As well, he has a D.M. from the Curtis Institute of Music. Marie, meanwhile, studied piano at the Manhattan School of Music and is a retired teacher. Thought it restricts information about its priority areas and grantmaking strategies, tax filings suggest that the foundation supports education and arts organizations, particularly music.
Tax fillings further show grants range from $10,000 to $250,000. Grantees have included National Liberty Museum, Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and his alma mater UPenn, home to the Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice, and Research). Field is also a major donor of Central High School in Philadelphia, from where he graduated as well. He's given at least $10 million to Central High.
