Green Park Foundation: Grants for Global Health

OVERVIEW: The Green Park Foundation typically makes global health grants to groups who work to combat neglected tropical diseases, prevent fistula, and address female genital mutilation. On a smaller scale, the foundation supports human rights and women’s empowerment.

IP TAKE: Green Park does not make many grants each year. But, it does seem to favor local and grassroots organizations in the global health space. Also, this funder only makes a handful of annual grants in the global health space, so grant seekers should anticipate competition.

Unfortunately, the foundation’s size limits its web presence and staffing, so details about its grantmaking activities are hard to come by. This is not a transparent funder; however, we’ve provided some insights below.

PROFILE: The Green Park Foundation is a small Florida-based nonprofit with no web presence or paid staff. Green Park’s giving reflects the foundation’s size, and is typically limited to less than 10 grants annually. The foundation does not name specific grantmaking focus areas; however, after examining its recent tax filings, it appears that Green Park prioritizes global health organizations working with poor and marginalized populations in developing countries.

Working with vulnerable populations around the world seems to be the only thing Green Park’s global grantees have in common. This foundation selects its grantees very carefully as it grants few global health grants each year. Green Park supported organizations that control and eliminate neglected tropical diseases, stop female genital mutilation, prevent and treat fistula.

Although Green Park is a small organization, its grants range from $15,000 to $50,000. The foundation does not accept unsolicited inquiries or proposals, but seeks like-minded organizations to support. Green Park tends to support its grantees for multiple years, but its records reveal that it accepts several new grantees each year.
