GHETS supports programs that help propel “[s]ystematic change in health around the world," and believes that "[w]ell-trained and supported doctors, nurses, and allied health workers are the key to sustainable change." GHETS invests in women's and community health, occupational and environmental health, and training and capacity building.
Grants for Global Health
Despite partnering with major medical organizations and academic institutions, GHETS takes a community-based approach toward its grantmaking to promote an "[i]ncreased utilization of local knowledge and expertise.” Its women's and community health efforts address training programs, and community-based outreach that includes maternal and child health. It also supports projects that address gender-based violence.
GHETS does not impose geographic restrictions on its funding, but concentrates on developing countries. Since the foundation does not list grant amounts, it is more difficult to ascertain grants sizes; however, recent tax filings reveal grants between about $1,000 to $10,000.
