PROFILE: Established in 2013 and with roots in health care and the Christian faith, the Episcopal Health Foundation (EHF) awards grants within the 57 counties of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in the southeastern portion of the state. EHF formed upon the transfer of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas to Catholic Health Initiatives. It seeks to "improve the health and well-being of the 10 million people in the 57 counties of the Diocese by investing in communities through grant-making, outreach to Diocesan churches and critical research to advance community health." Grantmaking categories are strengthening the systems of health, activating communities, and building the foundation for healthy lives.
Grants for Public Health and Access, Mental Health, and Diseases
In the past, EHF has provided grants in the following areas: preventative and primary care, mental health, access to health care, early childhood development, capacity building, healthy planning, and collective impact. This funder does not support school-based intervention except for school-based clinics providing comprehensive primary care, public agencies for routine services, parks or playgrounds, capital projects except upon an EHF invitation, or grants for religious purposes.
EHF provides grants of up to $10,000 as part of its small grant program. However, many grants are much larger than this and in the millions of dollars. The average EHF grant has been about $100,000.
