Established by Case Coleman III, a descendent of Peter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch governor of New York. Chase oversees Tiger Global Management, a hedge fund. Tax filings suggest that the foundation invests in education, medical, community, the environment, and humanitarian issues.
Coleman’s education investments include the East Harlem School, Inner-City Scholarship Fund, KIPP NY, IMentor, and Teach for America. Its grantmaking to health, however, includes the Hospital of Special Surgery, New-York Presbyterian Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
While most of the foundation’s funding supports education and health grantees, Coleman has supported the Central Park Conservatory, React to Film, and the Fresh Air Fund.
