PROFILE: The Brady Education Foundation was established in 1954 by William H. Brady, a founding member of the National Review. It is currently based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and led by Elizabeth Pugnello Bruno, the granddaughter of William Brady and a former Professor of  Developmental Psychology at the University of North Carolina. The foundation promotes “collaboration between researchers and educators and other stakeholders via the funding of research and program evaluations that have the potential of informing private funders and public policy.”

The Brady Education Foundation works with existing early childhood and K-12 programs and qualified educational researchers. Recent funding has prioritized projects “that have the potential of helping to close the opportunity and resulting achievement gaps between children living in under-resourced communities and/or from under-represented populations and other children.” One recent grant supported a collaboration between the American Montessori Society and a group of scholars who worked toward refining a measure of individual socio-cultural equity in early childhood classrooms. Another funded project aimed to increase the participation of low-income parents in math-related games with their preschool children. A list of recently grants is provided on the foundation’s website.

Brady Education Foundation grants range from $20,000 to $400,000. Funding is limited to organizations and researchers working in the United States.

This funder runs an open, two-stage application process and accepts applications at any time via email.
