OVERVIEW: Anthony and Deanna DiNovi conduct their philanthropy through the DiNovi Family Foundation, whose grantmaking centers around the Boston area. Available tax filings indicate that the foundation awarded around $1.2 million in grants in 2017. The family supports schools with which they have a personal connection. Other interests include health.

BACKGROUND: Anthony DiNovi graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Business School and worked in the corporate finance groups at Goldman Sachs and Wertheim Schroeder & Co. He is currently co-president of Thomas H. Lee Partners, a private equity firm based in Boston.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: DiNovi strongly supports his alma mater Harvard. Other grantees include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, Horizons for Homeless Children, Regis High School, Nativity School of Worcester, and Noble and Greenough School, which has received strong support lately. DiNovi is on the board of Noble and Greenough School and the couple are Noble parents.

HEALTH: The DiNovis have supported Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

OTHER: The family has supported School the World, which works to “provide access for quality education to those living in the rural villages of Central America,” and the GreenLight Fund, which works in cities to address community needs.

LOOKING FORWARD: DiNovi is only in his 50s and still very much engaged in business. His grantmaking may expand in the coming years, but for now, expect continued support of select Boston area institutions.
